Fun Dives

The Gili Islands from A to Z

​

Divers get the most out of there dives as we always do groups by level.

We do organize up to 5 dives a day (6AM, 9AM, 11:30AM, 02:30 PM, Mandarin dive, Night dive) everyday, we keep group size to max 4 divers and there are no other time limit than air and deco time...

The rainy season is gone and the visibility conditions are just amazing the last few days... More than 30 meters this morning and 29 degrees water...

​

You can join on any dive we organize :

 

  • At 6 AM, for the most brave, when the sun rises, we would go for an early dive before the others divers would get to the spots. We need 4 divers at least to organize it.

​

  • At 9 AM, we usually go to Gili Trawangan, in some deep spots to visit tortoises, sharks and shoals of fish.

​

  • At 11:30 AM & 02:30 PM, we go around Gili Air and Gili Meno for some relaxing dives. At the menu ? Uncommon fishes that only the Indonesia's water can provide.

​

  • We are muck diving specialists and if you are interested in the Small and the weird we could arrange those dive sites for you…

​

  • Also we do offer FLUO NIGHT DIVE, it is a totally brand new experience to go observe coral reefs.

DIVE SITES

With over 20 diving location the Gili islands present some amazing diving with an incredible diversity of hard and soft corals, a large collection of reef fishes, larger pelagics and an enormous variety of macro-life.
Most of our dive sites are hard and soft coral fringing reefs which surround the island...

 

But if your a little more adventurous let our guides take you off the reef to explore the surrounding sands, where you can see the most amazing macro life or the deep reef off-shore.

All of our dive trips are run in small groups so that we can offer you the best personal experience and diving available.

GILI MENO DIVERS guides and instructors have many years of experience diving in Indonesia and this allows them to choose the best dive sites on the day taking into account your needs as a diver.

The dive sites

Nemo city
 

  • Center of interest: Gentle sandy slope partially covered with small rocks seagrass , perfectly fits beginner but especially experienced divers and photographers looking after rare critters such as Ghost Pipefish, Seahorses, cockatoo waspfishes, weird Nudis as Melibe or Thecacera but also snake eels, stargazers and frogfishes.

  • Type: Muck, Shore dive

  • Location: South-east

  • Depth: from 3 to 22 meters

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Photographers - Excellent for night diving

  • Current: none to 1

  • Visibility: Very good to average

  • Aquatic Life: Seahorses, Pipefishes, double ended pipefishes, frogfishes, nudibranches, snake eels, flounder, sole, dragonets, stargazer, cuttlefish, octopus, squids, bobtail squids, mimic octopus, spanish dancer,harlequin and seagrass ghost pipefish, turtles, indian walkman and much more…

Frog Fish Point

​

  • Center of interest: One of the most famous site around the three gills for the encounters with the rare and the special. Frogfish Point is composed of a beautiful Coral Garden in the shallows hosting all kind of colorful reef fishes, and also features a set of very alive seamounts literally covered with coral and reef creatures. Occasionally attracts pelagic hunters… Excellent for macro lovers looking for long dives...

  • Type: Coral Gardens, Shallow sea pinnacles.

  • Location: North-East

  • Depth: from 3 to 26 metres

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Photographers - Excellent for night diving

  • Current: none to 4

  • Visibility: Very good to average

 

  • Aquatic Life: frogfishes, nudibranches, cuttlefish, seagrass ghost pipefish, turtles, indian walkman, scorpion fish, leaf fish, ribbon eel morays, giant morays, blue spotted stingrays….

Hans reef
 

  • Center of interest: Situated slightly more south than Frog Fish Point, this dive site is generally dived as a drift, beautiful coral gardens, Gill Air's Biorock artificial reef.

  • Type: Coral Garden, Small drop-off, Artificial Reef, Drift

  • Location: East

  • Depth: from 3 to 22 metres

  • Level: Beginners to experienced -

  • Current: 1 to 5

  • Visibility: Very good to average

 

  • Aquatic Life: Sea snakes, Leopard Moray, Ribbon Eel, Lion fish, Leaf fish, Turtles, Dogtooth tuna, Barracuda, Cuttle fish, Lots of reef fishes, Frogfishes, Cleaner shrimps, orang utang crabs.

Air Wall 
 

  • Center of interest: Probably the nicest drop-off in the 3 Gilis. Covered in soft corals and whips, it features 3 crypts where groups of sweetlips protects from the current. Pretty good macro here too, with seagrass ghostpipefishes, wall of glassfishes, pigmy seahorse and sometimes white tip reef shark and eagle rays.

  • Depth: from 3 to 30 metres

  • Level: Experienced - Photographers -

  • Current: 2 to 5\Visibility: Good to average

  • Aquatic Life: Pigmy Seahorse, Devil Scorpion fish, Puffer, Sweetlips, Turtles, Xeno Crab, Sea snake, White tip reef shark.

Air Slope
 

Center of interest: Gentle slope covered with soft corals and bummies. A turtle's heaven and an easy drift dive for beginner often dive in combination with Air Wall.

Type: Slope, Bummies, Drift

Location: South-east

Depth: from 3 to 26 metres

Level: Beginners to experienced

Current: none to 1

Visibility: Good to average

 

Aquatic Life: Turtles, Angel Fish, Lion Fish, Nudibranch, Sea Snakes, Batfish, Snappers...

Harbour
 

  • Center of interest: Very seldomly dived location, where the quality of hard coral is amazing. One small sea mount full a reef fishes and also a seagrass area where we get to spot interesting macro critters as ghostpipefishes and frogfishes.

  • Type: Coral and Muck

  • Location: South

  • Depth: from 3 to 18 metres

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Photographers - Excellent for night diving

  • Current: none

  • Visibility: Good to average

 

  • Aquatic Life: Ghost pipefish, Batfish, Snappers, Sweetlips, Hard coral and seagrass

Home reef
 

  • Center of interest: Gentle sandy slope covered with huge sponges. Small artificial reef and shallow drop off. Very colorful for night dive.

  • Type: Slope / Drop Off - Drift

  • Location: South-east

  • Depth: from 3 to 17 metres

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Excellent for night diving

  • Current: none to 1

  • Visibility: Very good to average

 

  • Aquatic Life: Lobster, octopus, giant Moray, scorpionfish, nudibranch lots of tropical fishes.

Shark point

​

  • Center of interest: Facing the Lombok Strait and Bali, Shark Point offers perfect conditions for the big fishes such as Sharks, Barracudas, big Stingrays ,Tunas at depth but also offers one of the most amazing Turtle Spot in South East Asia

  • Type: Deep Underwater hills, Shallow colorful slope, drift Dive

  • Location: North-West

  • Depth: from 5 to 40 meters

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Photographers -

  • Current: 1 to 5

  • Visibility: Very good to average

  • Aquatic Life: White Tip reef shark, black tip reef shark, Green and Hawksbill Turtles, Napoleon Wrasse, Schooling Snappers, Tunas, Sweet Lips, Clown Triggerfish, Octopus, Cuttlefish, Leaf fish, Pigmy Seahorse, Manta Rays, Mobulas, Hunphead Parrot fish 

Jack Point

​

  • Center of interest: Jack Point is one precise place on the outside deep part of Shark Point, at 27 meters you will meet big school of Barracudas, big eye jack, Snappers, resident white tip reef shark and many stingrays. Probably the best fish dive around the Gilis.

  • Type: Deep reef, drift Dive

  • Location: North-West

  • Depth: from 24 to 40 meters

  • Level: Experienced - Photographers -

  • Current: 3 to 5

  • Visibility: Very good to average

  • Aquatic Life: White Tip reef shark, black tip reef shark, Napoleon Wrasse, Schooling Snappers, Schooling Tunas, Schooling Sweet Lips, SchoolingClown Triggerfish, Octopus, Cuttlefish, Leaf fish, Pigmy Seahorse, Manta Rays, Mobulas, Humphead Parrot fish and much more..

Coral Fan Garden
 

  • Center of interest: Shallow drift dive on a very colorful reef where millions of fishes face the current. Humphead parrotfish few days after the full moon are commonly encountered there.

  • Type: Shallow reef, drift Dive

  • Location: North

  • Depth: from 3 to 25 meters

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Photographers -

  • Current: 2 to 5

  • Visibility: Very good to average

  • Aquatic Life: Snappers, Tunas, Sweet Lips, Clown Triggerfish, Octopus, Cuttlefish, , Humphead Parrot fish, Turtles

Manta Point
 

  • Center of interest: Beautiful Hard Coral Garden gently slopping to 25 meters. Facing the Lombok Strait and Bali, it is a perfect location to meet the larger pelagics animal such as Manta Rays, Barracudas, dogtooth tunas...

  • Type: Hard Coral Garden, gentle slope

  • Location: South

  • Depth: from 7 to 25 meters

  • Level: Beginners to experienced - Photographers-

  • Current: 2 to 5

  • Visibility: Very good to average

  • Aquatic Life: Manta Rays, White Tip and Black Tip Reef Sharks, Sea Snakes, Snappers, Tunas, Sweet Lips, Clown Triggerfish, Octopus, Cuttlefish, , Humphead Parrot fish, Turtles.

Deep Turbo

  • Center of interest: Located in the channel between Gili Trawangan and Gili meno, this deep site features many colorful seamount with beautiful coral and buzzing fish life.

  • Type: Takat ( Sea Mount), Drift, Deep

  • Location: North East

  • Depth: from 16 to 35 meters

  • Level: Experienced - Photographers -

  • Current: 3 to 5

  • Visibility: Very good to average
